Hello everyone reading this,
with subclassing around the corner (PC: 2nd of June, Console: 18th of June) i see a lot of guides and a lot of confusion on subclassing. So i went on the PTS and did some tests so you don’t have to.
Common Myth
What I read a lot is that you need to have the class you want to sub class with at level 50 to be able to use their classes for subclassing. This is wrong and one of the biggest misconceptions I’ve seen lately so i want to clear it up at the start.

You can see that i am able to subclass with the DK Ardent Flame Skill Line even tho i don’t have (or ever had) a DK. The icon next to the skill line means that i haven’t leveled it to 50 before (you can see no icon next to the Arcanist herald of the Tome line). As you can see the skill line is also still level 1 even tho it was on 50 on my arcanist. Subclassing skill lines level are completely separate.
Requirements
The Character you are on needs to be level 50
You need to complete the quest ‘A Study in Disciple’ (takes about 1 min if you skip the dialogue) which you can pick up for free from the Crown Store.

How to Subclass
Once you have done the Intro quest you can select your subclassing skill lines for free once. Afterwards you can change them against a small fee at every Respec shrine in the world.
You can select the skill lines from all classes you have access to.

I Logged in on my Arcanist to unlock the achievement for the Herald of the Tome skill line since i have that on level 50 already. You will need to do this with every class you have already leveled. The advantage of having this achievement is that you can swap your subclassing skill lines while you level them.
This Allows you to swap your subclass skill line even if you haven’t fully leveled the it yet. If you haven’t unlocked the Achievement for having the skill line at level 50 already you are locked into this subclassing skill line till you reach level 50 on it. You can only have 3 locked skill lines for your entire account so choose wisely.
Gladly all Progress for subclass skill lines is account wide. Once you reach level 50 in a Subclassing Skill line it will be Level 50 for all your characters.

Limitations
- You can only Select 1 Skill line from each class other than your main class
- You will need to keep at least one of your main class skill lines
- If you haven’t leveled the Skill line on another Character already you will need to keep it till it reaches level 50
- Subclassing Skill lines level slower than the ones from your main class
- Skills and Passives from your subclassing lines take 2 skill points per level
- You still need bought access to the classes Warden, Necromancer and Arcanist
